Introduction to Statistical Design of Experiments (VPL1)

Training course objectives

This method course imparts basic knowledge in planning and evaluating test series and serves to support our product training courses. Our method courses are designed to be software-independent and are also suitable for interested parties who do not work with the Statistica program.

Target group

This course addresses specialists in industrial companies who want to use simple standard procedures of statistical design of experiments in the field of research and development or quality assurance.

Course contents

This course provides a hands-on introduction to the concepts of statistical Design of Experiments (DoE).

  • Fundamentals of statistical test methodology
  • Preparatory work for design of experiments
  • Strategies of design of experiments
  • Full factorial plans
  • Main effects and interactions
  • Fractionation
  • Evaluation in the linear model
  • Plans for the quadratic experimental approach
  • Areas of action and transformation into physical units
  • Evaluation and limits of quadratic models
  • Set plans

The training consists of a short explanation of the mentioned procedures and the independent training of the course participants in the context of exercises. Examples in our standard courses are generally understandable data sets from different application areas.

Requirements

This course requires a basic knowledge of statistics. Knowledge of special methods of experimental design is not required.
