Spotfire can easily integrate analytical processes designed in Statistica (so called workspaces). This enables advanced analytics, machine learning and much more to be used and made available to all users of Spotfire dashboards.
What is Statistica?
Statistica is a Data Science platform, with a very high maturity and an expansive feature set. Statistica offers anything from classical statistics over regression modelling, to industrial statistics including SPC, DOE to machine learning and data mining models of all sorts.
What is Spotfire?
Spotfire is a software for visual Data Science and especially well suited when data should be integrated and presented in a meaningful way. Spotfire offers a multitude of different visualization with a high level of interactivity. Those visualizations are arranged in dashboards, which can be custom-tailored to perfectly fit the consumers’ needs and expertise.
Advantages
Spotfire and Statistica are powerful stand-alone applications that enable their corresponding experts to be highly productive in each tool.
When joined together it becomes possible to build new types of solutions, especially suited for interdisciplinary workflows:
- Solutions can be distributed very easily in the organization. Access is possible through the server. No local installation is required which makes mobile access is possible.
- It is possible build solutions that are made available beyond the own organization: for customers or potentially for anybody.
- Solutions can be custom built to fit the needs and talents of the users. Based on the requirements, consumers can be served with just the info they need, or experts can be provided with deep access to data and insights.
- Governance aspects can be considered fully. Access can be controlled in fine detail.
Spotfire plus Statistica
Existing Spotfire customers appreciate about the Statistica integration that they now possess a solution to enhance dashboards with complex analytical components and data processing features. And that with a low code / no code tool, that follow a WYSIWYG approach („What you see is what you get“) that is similar to Spotfire’s.
Statistica plus Spotfire
Existing Statistica user benefit from the possibility to distribute analyses - that were previously exclusive to data science experts – among the organization and enable insights from data for anybody. Here the interactive Spotfire visualizations come in handy to make data more approachable, and enable the users to drill deeper where needed.
The integration
The integration works surprisingly easy.
- Create a workspace in Statistica. It contains input data, some processing and results as an output. The workspace is being stored locally or in Statistica Server (Enterprise).
- In Spotfire this workspace is being added as a Data Function. Input data sets are being selected to be sent over to Statistica, parameters of workspace nodes can be configured, and the results for further use in Spotfire can be selected. All of this happens in a simple configuration dialog. The workspace can be embedded in the dashboard or stay in place, depending on the requirements.
