We, the company StatSoft and the software Statistica are closely connected and can look back at a long and exciting history.
It all began with the release of CSS (Complete Statistica System) by StatSoft Incorporated in 1986, followed by a first DOS version – now under the name STATISTICA in 1991. In these years there were also parallel releases for the Mac that were not continued later.
After many releases and sometimes long periods between versions, a first 32bit version of Statistica (version 6) based on a new architecture was released in 2001. It was followed by many regular releases with new features and improvements.
In 2014 the developer of Statistica, StatSoft incorporated based in Tulsa, Oklahoma was sold to the PC manufacturer Dell by its founders. Part of this transaction was that StatSoft (Europe) GmbH in Hamburg, Germany became an independent company.
Through Dell, Statistica was passed on to Quest to then arrive in the portfolio of TIBCO in 2017. TIBCO, who also owns Spotfire, aligned both products closely and began to bundle Statistica under the title Data Science Workbench (and TIBCO Data Science / Statistica) with Spotfire.
In 2024 Statistica is now part of the portfolio of the newly formed Spotfire Business Unit under the name Spotfire Statistica. Statistica serves perfectly as a tool for complex and valuable analyses in coordination with the excellent dashboarding solution Spotfire.
